Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

USED CUSTOMERS ARE buying to a budget rather than worrying too much about age or mileage, says Ron Counsel, sales manager at Cardiff Renault dealership Englands Truck Care.

-What I'm typically getting is 'I've got £10,000, find me a 7.5-tonner' or 'I've got £20.000, find me a tractor unit'," he says. But while he's happy to deal on that basis, he admits that the stock he needs especially rigids can be hard to come by.

"I've had customers after a 16-tonne flatbed and an 18-tonner with a demount body," Counsell adds."It's tracking down vehicles like that that is the difficulty."

"We're finding that there's healthy interest in the 12-tonne and 13-tonne rigids that we've got available because they can be rebodied as skip wagons, horseboxes, and recovery vehicles." says David Pantry, general manager of Mendlesham. Suffolk-based nonfranchised dealership UsedTrucks.

"I'm finding it difficult to locate late-year, low-mileage, 18-tonne boxvans for customers who want them, and there's a lot of interest in LF7.5-tonnerstoo."saysMatt Hammond, used vehicle sales manager at Harris Daf inThurrock,Essex."Late 45 Seris7.5-tonnersarestill likely to be good news but the 45 Series is getting on a bit now." -At present the used truck market appears to be slightly depressed, but we've had a good start to the year," he adds. -Enquiry levels are buoyant, and so are sales." Counsell says: "January was pretty terrible, but the phones haven't stopped ringing this month. People have been calling in from everywhere from Cornwall to Buckinghamshire."

"So far there's been no big drop in prices,-says Hammond. "Sometimes people panic and sell off their stock when it goes quiet at the start of the year, but that's not something I've noticed this year."
