DAF DEALERSHP F&G Commercials is setting up a used vehicle site on Barnsley's Carlton Industrial Estate.
Nigel Sharp, who has joined the company from Chatfields, another Dat outlet, will run the new venture.
"The aim is to have upwards of 20 trucks on display, and we should have a sales office there come March," he says. At present, my car is my off icel" He aims to sell all makes of vehicle from the new pitch. "In the main they'll be up to five years old, and we might stock a few trailers if we think we can make a profit out of them," he says.
Sharp is receiving plenty of enquiries for 7.5-tanners with curtainsider bodies, and for flatbed 18-tanners to transport steel, among other products. ''But there isn't a lot going on the tractor unit side of things," he admits.
That aside, prices aren't too bad. "They certainly haven't slumped: in fact they're pretty much the same as they were at the end of last year." Sharp concludes.
