He is the son of current boss and founder Mike Garbutt: he has already worked at the firm for a number of years as a driver and a traffic manager.
Mike Garbutt explains the appointment: 'I'm 58 and I'm not looking to retire yet. I'm just looking to get my house in some sort of order over the next few years before its too late. "I started the firm so I can't blame my father for any problems. But at least my son will have that privilege!"
The firm, a Palletways member, runs 14 trucks and has a turnover of E1 .8m.
