Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NORFOLK LINE'S MD says there will be as many as 50 redundancies at the firm after it lost a major contract with retailer Ikea.

Eddie Green says the contract loss is disappointing, and stresses that the company will do

all it can to re-deploy staff. But he admits: "The opportunities [for this] are limited."

Norfolk Line had bid for the work after Ikea put the contract out to tender but was informed recently that it had not been successful.

Regarding the redundancies, Green adds: "There's a fairly large number of people involved; around 50 drivers and office staff."

An Ikea spokesman says four transport companies are currently working for it: WH Malcolm, Tay Group; Hellman and rail freight firm EWS. He adds that the work out of its Doncaster depot will probably be divided up among these companies.

Norfolk Line has worked for the Swedish home furnishing retailer for seven years. Its contract will end on 5 March.
