SIX-CYLINDER Scania DS11 engines for the Swedish market will from now on feature some changes to reduce maximum revolutions and increase torque.

To be known as the DS11-11 variant, the new engine, for use in all Scania 111 chassis, has a modified injection pump and new two-ring, pistons.

Rated (in Sweden) at 206kW at 2100rev /min (formerly 2200), the engine will show a maximum torque of 1175Nm (1130) at 1300rev/ In combination with a final drive ratio of 4.13:1, a road speed of 70km /h is now achieved at 1470 engine revs/ min.

The engine improvement is one of several introductions by the Swedish builder which also includes a new bogie lift approximately 25kg lighter than before.
