Mr Messervy, who joined the Lucas Organisation in 1 949, will remain group managing director, a post he has held since 1974.

Ron Elliott moves to director of European Business Development for the Perkins Engines Group after serving as the Group's director of market supply, In his new position, Mr Elliott assumes responsibility for the activities of Perkins subsidiary companies in France, Germany and Italy. He succeeds Peter Barton who was recently named director UK farm machinery, sales and service, Massey Ferguson UK Ltd.

Joe Wright retires as development director of Perkins Engines Ltd, where he dealt with international manufacturing customers. He was with the company for 34 years.
