Manchester buys new generation
NEW GENERATION doubledeckers play a small, but significant role in Greater Manchester Transport's 1981/ 82 vehicle order.
Of 500 double-deckers ordered, 300 will be Northern Counties-bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68s, standard GMT vehicles throughout the 1970s.
Larger share of the new generation content goes to Leyland which will supply 120 Park Royal-bodied integral Titans, while Metro-Cammell Weymann will supply 80 Metrobuses with its own bodywork.
