Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• To provide stronger construction and easier repair, unitized running-gear assemblies with their own sub-frames are now part of the standard specification of trailers made by Mernworth Engineering Ltd., Dartford, Kent.

Suspension brackets are fitted inside deepflanged channel pressings spaced at chassisframe width by deep pressed-steel crossmembers. Through the flanges of these sub-frame longitudinals hugging the sides of the suspension brackets, much stiffer resistance is presented to side scuffing and there is said to be nothing like the usual risk of weld failure as a result of kerbing strains.
