• Using British Railways' LiverpoolGlasgow Freightliner service for the trunk haul, a high speed overnight parcels service in both directions between Lancashire and Glasgow is now being operated by Road Services (Caledonian Ltd), from its Preston (Lanes) Depot, and by Scottish Parcel Carriers Ltd, Glasgow, fellow members in the Tayforth Group.
Freightliner timings fit neatly into the pattern of collection and delivery services performed by both road hauliers. By arrangement with BR the container from Glasgow— loaded with parcels collected the previous day--is carried on the first wagon of the train, and is unloaded first.
