AFTER conducting trials over a long period with the object of ascertaining the most suitable type of plug for use in the engine employed in Morris vehicles. Lodge Plugs, Ltd., of Rugby, have introduced a new model known as the 0-13.3. The plug has a long threaded pert, which brings the sparking points flush with the inner surface of the corn
• bustion. chamber, enabling the engine to give its •utmost power without pre• ignition, and also giving the best position for easy starting, regular slow running and quick acceleration, The plug is. detachable, consisting of • • three )arts—i.e the'body with side ..Points, the gland nut and the insulated centre. The insulated centre consists of a thick steel rod to-which is welded a pure nickel sparking point; the thick rod absoths any excessive heat from the nickel sparking point and prevents it causing either pre-ignition or back. firing. The steel rod is insulated with concentric layers of mica put on under great pressure, the mica being rigidly held by the shrinking or of a steel collar. The outer end of the mica insulation is covered with a steatite tube. for the purpose of protection.
The body and gland nut are made in steel, the body being oxidized and the gland being zinc-coated to prevent the possibility of it rusting into the body. The • steel collar on the insulated centre butts upagainst a. solid copper washer inside the body, the steel collar being held in position by means of the gland mitt. • NO soft. packing of any kind is used inside the plug, and, as the joint is steel against copper, the plug can be taken to pieces as often as required and reassembled, making it gastight every tittle with the greatest

This form of construction results, it is claimed, in a plug which will withstand a considerable amount of oil Or soot, whilst it has remarkable qualities' in'withstanding heat. The price of the new 'ping is Sc.
