Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TO carry on the work of investigation in connection with malaria and other tropical diseases, the Entomological Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture in Tanganyika has recently ordered an interesting mobile laboratory from the Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd., Scotstoun, Glasgow. The chassis selected is the well-known Albion 30cwt. model, which has a high ground clearance and a track of 4 ft. 9 ins., and it is well adapted for use in countries devoid of well-made roads.

The design of the body and its equipment evoke particular interest. The interior is 10 ft. .long and 6 ft. wide and high, and it has five windows, two on each side and one in the door, which is at the rear. All windows, with the exception of that at the front on the near side, can be lowered, and when down they can be replaced by wooden frames having copper-gauze shields to keep out flies.

The body has a double roof, with a 6-in. air space, into which ventilators open from the interior. Louvres are used at the front and rear, in addition to louvre panels and hinged shutters along the sides. All the ventilating de E22 vices have copper gauze on the inside to render them proof against the dangerous tsetse fly.

Owing to the humid atmosphere the body is being framed up in teak, which will also be used for the interior fitments. Portable steps give access to the rear entrance. Along the off side of the interior is a bench 2 ft. wide, under which cupboards are built. There are two knee-hole recesses for the laboratory workers, and the backs of the recesses are used to accommodate shallow cupboards.

The bench also runs across the front of the body to within 1 ft. 8 ins, of the near side, and embodies a sink in its construction. The lid of the sink when opened forms a test-tube rack. It is fitted with the usual folding brass tap, and the water supply is obtained from a capacious detachable tank, extending the whole width of the body at the front, and this tank has a• detachable end plate for cleansing purposes. It is filled from above the driver's cab.

Hinged brackets, about 5 ft. long, can be folded out from the sides of the body to support a double canvas shade. When travelling this is rolled up and

stowed on the -roof, which also houses the curtains forming the tent, this being made up from a canvas screen with ends and a valance to fill up the space between the bottom edge of the body and the ground.

A special electrical plant, consisting of a Lister self-contained generator, is being installed. The engine is of the single-cylinder four-stroke type and is equipped with a governor ; the exhaust is carried through the roof. The engine drives a dynamo of the four-volt shuntwound type. The output at 1,000 r.p.m. is said to be from 27-31 amps. at 32-43 volts; regulation is by shunt rheostat. The switchboard is carried on the front bulkhead. The battery has a capacity of 150 amp.-hours. So as to give access to the lighting plant, a detachable panel is used tit the front end on the near side of the body. The interiot lighting consists of two roof lights and two adjustable desk lights, but the main purpose of the electrical installation is for the operation of two microscope lamps. Pyrene fireextinguishers are carried in the interior and in the driver's cab, whilst a, paraffin cooker is provided.
