Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Services to a major rail route were badly disrupted last week after an artic became wedged under a railway bridge.

Trains running between London and Birmingham, operated by Chiltern Railways, were forced to travel at a snail's pace over the Blackthorn bridge in Oxfordshire caus

ing delays of up to one-and-a-half hours.

The accident, which left the driver unhurt, happened at 8.45am on Monday 6 August. The road between Bicester and Aylesbury had to be closed for more than four hours while recovery operators tried to move the vehicle. The trailer was so tightly lodged under the bridge that its wheels were partly off the ground. A roadsign was also demolished.

The bridge is signposted for height restrictions and it is unclear how the accident happened. Thames Valley Police say they are looking into the causes.
