it is taking matters into its Own hands following the government's continuing refusal to provide details of the trucks used to transport carcasses infected with toot and mouth.
The association highlights the code of practice for road haulage, which stipulates that lorries used for this purpose should never be used to carry grain or crops afterwards.
UKASTA chief executive Jim Reed says: Our members are now doing more checks, at their own expense. and sharing information between them because government has not been able to give us information on those vehicles used to carry carcasses in the FMD cull."
Rut a DEFRA spokeswoman says: "I am aware that we have been considering providing this information. However, such details are commercially sensitive."
