'Dreadful record' driver loses NV driving licence

A Humberside lorry driver, said to have the worst record the North Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney had ever seen for a young man, has had his NOV driving licence revoked and been disqualified from holding another licence for three years.
Richard Adamson, of North Newbould, near Hull, appeared before the TC at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry.
Traffic examiner Roy Harrison said that Adamson had pleaded guilty to nine offences of falsifying tachograph charts in June and July last year, one of using a vehicle with an inoperative speed limiter, two of exceeding the daily driving limit, one of failing to take sufficient weekly rest and one of failing to return tachograph charts within 21days.
He had used a "ghost driver's" name on a number of charts and on one occasion had wound the tachograph clock forward by 12 hours. He had also worked for 11 continuous
A days without
taking a weekly rest.
Adamson, who worked for John Tutty Haulage of Cottingham, said it was his first proper job. He had not fully understood the drivers' hours rules.
The IC told Adamson: It is a dreadful record for a professional driver and I have no choice but to revoke your HOY licence and disqualify you for three years."
