MORE M42 • A new section of motorway was opened last week in the West Midlands.
It is a 12km (7.5-mile) stretch of the M42 that runs north eastwards from Birmingham. This new section extends the motorway further north, from the AS junction, by-passing 'Farnworth.
To the south west of Birmingham the M42 runs down to within a few miles of the M5 at Bromsgrove. This missing link with the M5 should be opened next Spring.
