Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

COMPANY CAR TAX

• Tolley's Company Car Tax Guide 1986/87 is a new booklet that explains the tax position of company cars from both the employer's and employee's point of view.

The guide covers all the variations of company car — the business car, the high mileage business car, the "perk" car and the pool car.

The second part of the guide is a list of current cars, their insurance group, fuel consumption figures and car and fuel tax benefit. Accountants Coopers & Lybrand are the authors of the guide. It is available from bookshops or direct from the publishers, Tolley Publishing Co Ltd, Tolley House, 17 Scarbrook Road. Croydon, Surrey CRO !SQ. The price of the 95-page booklet is £3.95.

NEW SURVEY

• Despite increasingly lessfavourable taxation treatment in recent years, company cars continue to become more prevalent.

A survey conducted on behalf of the Business Media Research Committee reveals that 48% of business executives now have the benefit of a company car, compared with 42% in 1984.

The majority of these cars are British; only 36% are foreign. This, however, represents a swing towards foreign cars because in 1984 the split was 71:29 in favour of British cars.
