• A West Midland company which operated six vehicles not specified on its operator's licence has been ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £650 by the Atherstone magistrates.
Acorn (Nuneaton) admitted six specimen offences of using a vehicle without an operator's licence and was fined £100 per offence with .i!50 costs.
Barbara Stubbs, prosecuting for the West Midlands Licensing Authority said that in November 1985 a traffic examiner inspected the company's tachograph charts for October and November. Ile discovered charts of six vehicles not authorised on the company's 0-licence. Three of the vehicles concerned were specified on an 0-licence held in the Eastern traffic area by Kenneth McCreath. When interviewed about the offences the company representative had said that there was no problem with three vehicles as they were specified on a sub-contractor's licence.
For the company it was said that it was a large, responsible company with a number of subsidiaries. It employed a lot of people and the offences were all due to administrative mistakes. The person responsible had since left the company's employment.
