Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BET profits down

• BET's worldwide transport operations increased their profits on paper by 37% for 1985/86 compared

to the previous year although currency movements reduced this to 7%.

BET's haulage subsidiary United Transport International in the UK includes United Transport Tankers, United Contract Hire, United Transport Distribution and Econofreight Heavy Transport.

UT1 as a whole was hit by Sterfing's strength and the decline of most of the currencies in which UTI operates, the BET annual report says.

UTI finally made a £31.2 million profit on a VW million turnover. Turnover was down £26 million on the previous year.
