Ron Cater started his career as a driver/fitter with Tyburn Tankers. He was later its vehicle examiner and then fleet engineer. After a spell as Pitt Trailers sales manager in the Southern area he joined CM as assistant technical editor.

In 1970 he moved to Volvo where he has served as sales promotion manager, engineering manager, and market support engineer. He is now sales development manager.
