POST OFFICE drivers are often criticised in the Press for either lack of ability or consideration for other road users. The following points should I feel, be made.
In this year's eliminating heats for CM's Lorry Driver of the Year competition 49 of our drivers — including a young lady — qualified for the national finals. As far as I'm aware this is a record for any one company.
Each year 80 per cent of Post Office drivers receive awards from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents as part of their safe driving scheme.
Obviously, not all of our drivers are perfect but a lot of the criticism is unfounded. MALCOLM G. CLARK Executive Postal Headquarters London ECI
