of road haulage could you refresh my memory of a scheme put forward some time ago by the National Freight Corporation for the rere-deployment of redundant staff?
We think you refer to a scheme called "Pheonix" and devised by the NFC. The plan was to make over a surplus depot to redundant staff, with an initial support-subsidy — to give the opportunity of developing a new business — cash and carry; environment cleaning; slag heap removal, etc.
