FOLLOWING the introduction of its F6 lowloading semi-trailer, for concentrated loads up to 45.7 tonnes (45 tons), at last year's Scottish Show, Taskers has now brought out a version of this model which has a low-profile rear bridge instead of separate wheel-boxes. This means that the load-carrying platform stretches over the rear bogie, so that the trailer may now be loaded from the rear as well as the front and, when necessary, the sides.
A four-side-member frame is employed, having a beaver-tail over the rear axles, By outrigging the spring hanger brackets and using shallower members for the beaver-tail, with substantial reinforcing strips welded on the sides of their bottom flanges, the deck height has been kept as low as possible in this area and can accept the same concentration of loading as the main portion of the deck.
Trailers of this new range have the same Tasklift hydraulically operated de
tachable swan-neck as before, but the hydraulic system can now be operated, if required, by compressed air from the braking system as an alternative — albeit, a slower one to a donkeyengine or pto drive.
As an option, for loading over the rear end when this is required for maximum versatility, Taskers offers captive spring-assisted loading ramps of a new design. These can be moved laterally to suit different track widths of wheeled loads and are retained in the upright position when the trailer is in transit. To lower, the side stays must first be released and then the ramps can be swung down by one man. Each ramp weighs 127 kg (2 cwt).
The new trailers are designed for gross weights from 19.8 to 54.8 tonnes (19,5 to 54 tons), with a bigger version for 71 tonnes (70 tons) gross in the offing. Load-platform lengths are from 8.2m to 9m (27ft to 30 ft), in 0.3m (1 ft) increments.
