Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Lofthouse-Whitley Bridge, Yorks, section of M62 will he opened to traffic on August 27, announced Transport Minister Fred Mulley last week.

The new section of motorway runs east from the interchange with MI at Lofthouse to the interchange with Al 9 Doncaster-Selby Road at Whitley Bridge. Other interchanges connect the motor way to Aberford Road (A642) at Rothwell, Castleford Road (A655) at Hopetown, Park Road (A639) at Glasshoughton and the LondonEdinburgh-Thurso Trunk Road (Al) ) at Ferrybridge.

The opening of this section, together with the opening of the section between M6 and Eccles this month will provide a through route to the NorthEast from Merseyside. THE Deputy Metropolitan LA, Mr J. L. Bowyer, adjourned a Section 69 public inquiry when representatives of Alf Burgess Transport Ltd, of 78, Sceptre Road, Hackney E2, failed to appear at his court last week. The company was also to apply for the renewal of its operator's licence at the same inquiry.

Mr Bowyer told the court that the company's offences seemed, from the vehicle examiner's evidence, to be rather serious and that in the light of the non-appearance of Mr A. Burgess, or one of his representatives it was diffi: cult not to let the company's image seem tarnished.

Mr Bowyer said that if the company did not turn up at the future hearing it would affect its right to apply for operator's licences in the future.
