project MR P. G. GYLLENHAMMAR, managing director of AB Volvo, today opened a new 100,000 sqft parts facility as the first phase of a £.3.5m building programme at the new Irvine. Ayrshire, hq for Ailsa Trucks Ltd, concessionaire for Volvo trucks and buses. The new facility will be fully completed next year when a further 116,000 sq ft will come into operation, giving a parts handling area of 216,000 sq ft.

The Irvine site includes new assembly shops for eight-wheeler trucks and the Volvo double-deck buses, engineering development workshops, service exchange unit depot, predelivery chassis inspection facility and a new head office administration block due to be completed at the end of 1975.
