A All those who drive heavy goods vehicles ^ will eventually be required to hold the appropriate licence. But at first exemptions will be granted to those who have experience during the previous six months in driving the class of vehicle for which they apply, this must be certified by the employer. This does mean that the success of the scheme initially depends on employers ensuring that they are satisfied that an applicant exempted has sufficient experience.
