• Some haulage and brewery firms are believed to be interested in replacing part of their lorry fleets with horse drawn drays for short hauls in urban areas. One of London's breweries is reported by Mr. Robert Jarvis, secretary of the Clydesdale Horse Society, to have told its shareholders that it will be forced to buy horses to cut costs. "But", said Mr. Jarvis, "if too many firms want horses, there may not be enough to go round".
