THE two big Canadian railway com
panies are now prepared to carry on their " piggy-back " services between Montreal and Toronto semi-trailers owned by hauliers, whereas until now they have offered this service only to users of railway-owned semi-trailers.
Piggy-back services between the two cities were begun in 1952. Eight prominent private haulage companies have shown an• interest in the new development of the services, which will take effect next month.
Mr. R. E. Wilkes has been appointed manager of the Canadian Pacific Railway's piggy-back services.
