A REDUCTION in the use of the PA larger lorries on farms is reported by the Ministry of Agriculture in its biennial agricultural machinery census for 1956. The popularity of tractortrailers has shown a marked increase, indicating that the tractor is being used more for heavy farm haulage.
The number of lorries and vans in use on farms in 1956 was: Under 2 tons, 61,060 (compared with 52,770 in 1954); -over 2tons, 29,090 (30,560); tractortrailers, 327,440 (299,000).
