• Hauliers using the Severn Bridge will have to pay four times as much from the end of April, and face further annual rises of 6% plus the rate of inflation. But the toll will only be charged to vehicles leaving England. From 26 April the toll for LGVs goes up to £.8.40, and £5.60 for light comercials. At the moment LGVs pay £2 each way — annual increases will follow each January.
South Wales haulier TD Williams crosses the bridge 20 times daily. "I am astounded", says managing director, Tommy Williams, "it's another nail in the coffin."
