416 • A haulier who
has been trying to re-build his busi ness after a series of arson attacks caused it to fold has been fined £250 for the unauthorised use of a vehicle and failing to have a two-year tachograph check.
Traffic examiner William Rees said that Port Talbot-based Peter Crook, who trades as Phoenix Foods, held only a restricted licence which did not allow him to carry goods for other people. When stopped, Crook's vehicle had been carrying meat to CRS at Lampeter for a wholesaler.
Crook said that he had taken a partner into his business and had only retained a 25% stake for himself. The truck stopped by the traffic examiners had survived the arsonists' attack, and he had bought it to start up in business again.
