Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Voith VHBK 130 and Telma's CC in-line and Focal 250 retarders can now be fitted in combination with Eaton's popular Twin Splitter and SAMT transmissions.

This move anticipates EC proposals for all vehicles of 16 tonnes and above coming into service after 1 January 1992 and carrying hazardous goods on international journeys to be equipped with a driveline retarder from the middle of next year. The VHBK 130 and Telma CC suit vehicles with up to 3,000Nm of torque; the Focal 250 caters for a maximum torque of 2,500Nni.

The Voith retarder is a hydrodynamic brake which can give up to 13.3% retardation. The Telma retarder is an electromagnetic brake, typically giving a retardation of up to 10% on a laden 38-tonner.

The Voith is normally mounted directly onto the gearbox; the Telma is fitted to the rear of the box.
