• West Yorkshire bodybuilder Charles Roberts Engineering has won a g750,000 order from Charringtons, the largest UK independent oil distributor, for rigid and articulated road tankers.

The FA 60.180 4x2 and FAT 80.260 6x2 Leyland Daf chassis will be used primarily to deliver heating oil and derv. They have multi-compartment tanks offering capacities from 12,400 to 18,400 litres. Some have bottom loading to meet full Pet-reg specification.

The order also includes five Lowmax tandem and tri-axle semi-trailers equipped with 34,000-litre tanks for operation at 38 tonnes. They take Lowmax's sales since 1990 past the £3.5m mark.
