LEYLAND is designing a Gardner-engined Tiger coach to meet th needs of some customers who might otherwise buy competitor products.

While Leyland will go on promoting the Tiger as a TL11-engine model for most of the market, it is keen to sell Tigers to suc operators as those Scottish Bus Group subsidiaries buying Gardne engined Dennis Dorchesters and has started design exercises t accommodate the 6FILXCT diesel used in the Dorchester.

This involves modifications to the chassis frame, partly becaus the Gardner engine is around 1ft longer than the Leyland unit.
