Insurance extensions, too

FORD's optional second year warranty Extra Cover has been extended to the A-Series, Cargo, 0-Series, R-Series and Transcontinental.

The cover is already available for Fiesta and Escort vans, P100 pick-ups and Transits.

The extension will cover driveline and other components, including engine, propshaft and rear axle. There is no limit on mileage.

Costs of recovery within the UK to the nearest Ford lorry dealer will be refunded under the plan, and for any repair that cannot be completed within 24 hours Ford will pay up to £70 per day towards hire of a replacement vehicle for three days.

A spokesman for Ford said: "It was a natural extension of the cover we were offering to smaller vehicles.

"Any claims will be dealt with by Ford and no insurance brokers will need to be consulted," he added.

"There are no limits to the value of the claim or to the number of claims and if the vehicle changes ownership during the period of cover the warranty transfers to the new owner automatically and without cost."

Prices for the cover start at £275 plus vat for the A-Series and up to £1,015 for the Transcontinental.

Vehicles must be serviced by Ford-recommended schedules using Ford parts, although this can be carried out by a Ford lorry dealer or an owner's approved workshop.
