Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The owner of the Orwell Crossing Lorry Park in Suffolk says pressure from Commercial Motor helped soften the local council's stance over restricting the Site to trucks,

Suffolk Coastal District Council says it will not enforce the conditions of the planning permission if owner Karl Rout applies to remove any reference to lorry drivers.

Members of the public could still raise objections, but this is unlikely.

"We had a meeting with the enforcement officer," Rout reports. "I think, to be honest, your magazine, the BBC and radio speeded things up."

Rout said his business faced closure if the council forced him to restrict the site to truck drivers (CM 8 September). He reckons 90% of his customers over the weekend are car drivers so such a restriction would "finish" him,

The council's enforcement officer, Andy Knowles, says: "The main consultee will be the Highways Agency. If they have no objection to the use of that access. then I can't see anything to hold him back. Everyone has the right because planning is such a transparent process."
