deregulated express service between Inverness and Edinburgh by Perth independent Stagecoach have been dropped, thus avoiding a major traffic court battle.
The firm's plans had been opposed by the Scottish Bus Group subsidiaries Eastern Scottish, Scottish Highland, Fife Scottish and Midland Scottish together with Lothin and Fife Regional Councils.
The councils withdrew after Stagecoach agreed not to pick up or set down passengers between Edinburgh and Dunfermline. The SBG companies withdrew on the understanding that Stagecoach would withdraw its objections to applications by the SBG companies to introduce winter timetables on their Citylink services.
