WINCANTON Engineering recently completed a stainless steel tanker trailer for its sister company, Wincanton Transport.

The triple compartment triaxle semi-trailer operates at 38 tonne, but detailed design has produced a major reduction in the unladen weight, resulting in a payload of 25.3tonne — approximately an 1,000kg increase on other comparable tankers.

With an unladen weight of only 6,560 kg, the tanker incorporates cylindrical construction with three equally-sized compartments.

Manufactured from 316 stainless steel, the tank is fully polished internally, lagged externally, and clad in highly polished stainless steel sheeting; it is fitted with CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) attachments, and is mounted on Crane Fruehauf running gear with monoleaf spring suspension.

The 24,500 litre (5,389 gal) capacity tanker is operated on milk haulage duties, although it has been designed with the facility for future conversion to general product haulage.
