AUTO LIFE air brake diaphragms, which originate from both unsafe and a false economy claims Bendix. Israel, are The Bristol-based company undertakes a continuous testing programme of non-approved components. Its test results show that leakage through the natural rubber cover of the Auto Life diaphragm was up to 11.5 times greater than is acceptable to Bendix and other leading manufacturers. Service life tests showed an 80 per cent reduction in performance.
Bendix makes the point that cost savings, in purchasing substandard components, are often misleadingly small and the effects on vehicle operation and safety can be devastating.
