DAVID BAYLISS, the Greater London Council's chief transport planner since 1972, is leaving the doomed council to join London Regional Transport.
Mr Bayliss, who has been with the GLC for 17 years, is to become LRT's director of planning, and starts later in the autumn. He succeeds Bill Fairhall, director of finance and planning, who moves shortly to another LRT post.
Mr Bayliss will not be a main board member at LRT, but will be based at LRT's centre when separate bus and rail businesses are formed next year.
