I, too, was interested in the article by Noel Miller, "Motorway drivers must give and take' and the subsequent comments by‘J. C. Kendrick.

My yearly average on both Continental and British roads is in the region of 35,000 miles and I feel we might improve on our roads if it was made obligatory O for drivers to use trafficators whenever their vehicle changes lanes, as it is in West Germany; E to dip headlights at night whenever one meets oncoming traffic including on motor and dual-carriage ways; O to dip headlights at night when driving behind another vehicle.

Drivers must be made aware of lane discipline, that the socalled "fast laneis in reality an overtaking lane. The practice of sitting in these lanes without allowing faster vehicles to pass whenever a gap allows a slower vehicle to give way is appalling and causes dangerous congestion with risks of pile-ups as faster vehicles are thus frustrated.
