Big deal Avis

MERCEDES Benz (UK) Ltd in its biggest ever deal with Avis Truck Central handed over 30 "new generation" heavy vehicles worth more than £600,000.

The order was for 20 sleeper cab 16265 256hp tractive units and 10 standard cab 1619S 196hp units.

After initial trials, primarily in the North-East, North-West and London areas, they are to be made available through Avis's 28 locations throughout the United Kingdom.

New tricks

A CONFERENCE has been organised by the simplification of International Trade Procedures Board (SITPRO) to show management how it can use new trade techniques for practical day-to-day profit.

It is to be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Lancaster Gate, London W2 on Tuesday, September 19. It will attract international carriers and all those responsible for the transport of goods, say the organisers.

Surrey owners organise

ANOTHER new ownerdrivers' association has been formed in Surrey with Terry Bray as chairman and Graham Lashmar as secretary.

The new association held its first meeting on Friday and will be holding another on September 22 at Hill House, Bishopsfield Road, Morden, Surrey.
