A basic framework of regulations covering the use of lead in all situations, supported by an approved code of practice containing practical details, has been proposed. • The object of the new regulations is to protect the health of all persons engaged in work which exposes them to lead and to ensure that noone else is put at risk by those activities.
Copies of the consultative document are available from the Health and Safety Executive or from HMSO and comments should be made to the CBI by Monday, September 25.
