GOVERNMENT Ministers find time short for all the things they wish to accomplish. Mrs. Barbara Castle has a fuller diary of engagements than most Her nephew, Hugh McIntosh, 25-year-old building company executive, wanted to choose a date for his wedding to Miranda Wilson-Young, 20.
"But Hugh's Aunt Babs is a very busy woman and just to make sure that she could be present her diary was consulted first," said her brother-in-law Mr. Alistair McIntosh, Hugh's father.
But across the aisle of the Old Church, Chelsea, last Friday at 4.30 p.m., the politics were of a different hue. Miranda's stepfather is Francis St. G. Fisher, Conservative Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea until May this year.
"Attempts to photograph the Minister with the bride's step father were unsuccessful, although the aid of the official wedding photographer was enlisted," reports my cameraman laconically. P.S. An Hungarian journalist wrote to Maurice Edelman, MP for Coventry North: "I am waiting here for the visit of an attractive, vivacious, temperamental lady from Britain." Guess who? (See page 38.)
