THE PROPOSED 25-mile radius limit on certain bulk traffic is arbitrary and unreasonable, says the British Road Federation in its memorandum to the Ministry of Transport.
The BRF believes that if efficiency was to be ensured so many exemptions would have to be made that the whole proposal relating to bulk traffic should be reconsidered now.
The delivery of roadstone and prepared road making materials would be chaotic, if a separate authorization had to be obtained for every new route over 25 miles. Often, such products had to be moved at a moment's notice for 100 miles or more.
