APC reveals turnover rise, but profit falls back

THE ALTERNATIVE Parcels Company (ARC) says it is bucking the economic trend after reporting a rise in its turnover.

Operating profit at the Wolverhampton-based parcel delivery company for the year to March 2009 fell to £370,600 from £500,850 the previous year.

Pre-tax profit also decreased to £306,838 this year from £567,908 in the previous 12-month period. But tutnover rose to £51.5m from £50.8m.

An APC statement says the directors are 'satisfied w th the profit and position at the year end, given the amount of reinvestment and adverse trading conditions". Marketing director Jon Barber continues: 'Consignment levels for the summer 2009 period achieved record levels up significantly compared al: OR with the same period in 2008',
