• An owner-driver left his tractor's tachograph head open for a journey to view a caravan he was interested in buying.
Tony Powell, of Penygroes, Carmarthenshire, told Llanelli magistrates that he took the opportunity to see the caravan while his semi-trailer was engaged in a lengthy unloading operation in Shaftesbury. A check by a Vehicle Inspectorate examiner showed that the tractor had travelled for 262km, but only 190krn had been recorded.
Powell was fined OW for falsifying his tachograph record.
