III North Western DTC Brian Horner has increased the permitted hours of operation at the Middleton-by-Wirkswort h premises of Via Gelia Transport, but he refused to allow the company to work 24 hours a day. He increased its licence to 40 vehicles and 30 trailers rather than the 50-40 split requested: both proposals were opposed by residents.
Parking limit
• MacFarlane Transport of Leeds has been allowed to base three vehicles and three trailers in Motherwell. But after considering residents' objections, Scottish Deputy TC Richard McFarlane imposed conditions relating to parking and ruled that no vehicle may visit the centre more than three times a day.
Centre move
• Robert Lawson, of Whitburn, West Lothian, has been given the go-ahead to move his operating centre for seven vehicles and seven trailers without environmental conditions being imposed, despite objections from neighbouring residents.
No action
• No action was taken against the licence held by Chaplin Plant Hire, of Gloucester, after undertakings were given on the maintenance of the firm's vehicles. Chaplin appeared before Western DTC Lester Madrell at a Gloucester disciplinary inquiry
