Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ot so long ago your avian corres pondent was to be seen strutting around like a pouter pigeon. The reason for such self-congratulation? Arch feminist Germaine Greer's surprise support for lorry drivers. Yes really.

In an article in the Independent on Sunday the award-winning author waxed lyrical on happy times riding in trucks as a hitch-hiker. What's more her truckie hosts were always perfect gentlemen: "Truck drivers took me where I wanted to go with no shenanigans."

Imagine my surprise then to learn via a recent edition of The Guardian that Ms Greer had been given cause to change her mind. It appears that while trying to warn a lorry driver of a hazard on a country lane her cautionary flash of the headlamps was rewarded by a V-sign from the driver.

The cad! The absolute rotter. Suffice it to say that should this out and out stinker ever darken the Hawk's door he'll be soundly horsewhipped (providing he brings his own horse).

Manners, not macho, maketh man.
