Potter spent the last ten years as Bodybuild and vehicle liason division. He is joined at Southworth by Arthur Earlam, who is the company's new materials controller. Earlam was previously with Leyland Bus as techical services manager.

• MAN VOLKSWAGON MARTIN/BISHOP MAN Volkswagen's new south east and East Anglia commercial sales manager is Richard Martin, formerly the company's technical training controller. That role goes to Les Bishop who has been a technical trainer with the company for five years.

IRONS Ron Irons has taken over as group managing director for the National Freight Consortium's BRS Group — one of the largest road transport services in the company. He succeeds Geoff Pygall who is retiring.

Irons has over 38 years experience in the industry and previously held a number of senior positions in BRS before being appointed md of SPD Group on its acquisition by the NFC in 1985. He has since been group md of NFC Distribution Group, helping to integrate SPD and BRS Distribution and playing a key part in the NFC's acquisition of Birds Eye Walls Distribution, Alpine and GDL.
