• Executives in road transport appear to be receiving the lowest pay rises in British industry, judging by the latest survey on executive salaries and benefits produced by Inbucon.

The survey says that over the past 12 months the average pay rise for company executives covered in the survey was 9.3%, but in the transport sector it averages 7.4%. Rises in the distribution sector, however, are currently running at around 8%. During the past 12 months inflation has risen from 2.4% to 4.4%.
